In an effort to get out the message about drivers who intentionally and fraudulently cause accidents on roadways, LAPD and representatives of Allstate Insurance held a demonstration today to show warning signs to would-be victims. Along with the demonstration, LAPD personnel and Allstate Insurance Company representatives provided information on the subject.
LAPD are hoping they can reduce the number of fraudulent accidents by educating the public on how to spot such an accident right after they happen.
The following are important tips to avoid being the victim of a scam: 1. Exchange information with the other driver(s) 2. Be aware of potential witnesses 3. Carry a notepad and disposable camera 4. Write down license numbers 5. Be wary of unsolicited tow truck operators 6. If suspicious call local law enforcement. Copyright © 2008, KTLA
